Project: Pungwe–Mutare HydroXS Energy Recovery

Project Status: Detailed Feasibility Stage

Location: Manicaland, Zimbabwe
Technology: InPipe Energy – HydroXS In-Conduit Hydropower

Scope

Installation of micro-hydropower technology within the existing gravity-fed raw water conveyance system. By replacing traditional pressure-reducing valves (PRVs) with HydroXS, we capture wasted energy without disrupting water delivery.

Impact: Carbon-neutral power generation for municipal facilities.

Value Delivered

  • Generates municipal revenue streams

  • Requires minimal civil works (retrofit deployment)

Environmental & Development Impact

  • CO₂ Reduction: ~3,000 – 4,000 tonnes/year

Decentralised wastewater treatment for cluster developments

Location: Borrowdale, Harare
Application:
Residential Cluster Development (15 Units)
Technology: BIOROCK Decentralized Wastewater Treatment System

Project Overview

The project demonstrates the deployment of decentralized, non-electric wastewater treatment systems for residential cluster developments, enabling compliant effluent treatment and onsite water reuse in line with national environmental regulations.

Technical Performance

  • BOD: < 10 mg/L

  • E. coli: 0/ 100 mL

  • Treatment Process: Fixed-bed biological media with passive aeration

Value Delivered

  • >75% reduction in potable water demand through reuse

  • >60% reduction in desludging costs

  • Elimination of septic tank failure risks

  • Irrigation-grade water reuse for landscaping
