HydroXS®

Turning Water Infrastructure into Renewable Energy.

Overview

Dzinde ReDzinza, in partnership with InPipe Energy, deploys the HydroXS® Energy Recovery System—a patented, modular micro-hydropower solution that converts excess pressure in water pipelines into clean, continuous electricity.

Unlike conventional hydropower, HydroXS does not require dams or new water abstraction. It integrates directly into existing pipeline infrastructure, transforming pressure losses—typically dissipated through pressure reducing valves (PRVs)—into usable energy.

At its core, HydroXS functions as a smart control valve with embedded generation capability, maintaining hydraulic performance while producing electricity.

How It Works

The HydroXS is installed within or alongside existing pipeline systems—typically at:

  • Pressure reducing valve stations

  • Bypass lines

  • High-head gravity-fed pipelines

As water flows through the system:

  1. Pressure is reduced to safe operating levels

  2. The pressure differential is captured

  3. A turbine converts this energy into electricity

  4. Smart controls optimize performance in real time

The system is fully integrated with SCADA platforms, providing live monitoring of:

  • Flow rates

  • Pressure profiles

  • Energy generation

  • Carbon savings
